My former neighbour used to say that, usually to playfully tease me or someone else whom he saw as making a quick buck. But it does often seem to play that way. I used to have “spare money”, or so I thought. Various things have chipped into that situation such that I feel that statement is far less true now. In some ways it is good, making me turn off every light that isn’t necessary, and wearing an extra jumper rather than cranking up the heating. But I’d rather have more, obviously. One factor in my deteriorating financial situation is

I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect someone to turn up to an appointment, particularly if they are the one who asked for it. Let’s compare. Today I went to a new place to walk my dogs because someone had posted on our dog Facebook page looking for friends for their Dogue de Bordeaux. I volunteered to drive over and meet them this morning. They chose a park near to them and gave vague indications where they would be. I walked around for quite a while, fortunately having a lovely time and meeting some very pleasant dog walkers, before

It is my fault – who else’s could it be ? Today I went overdrawn. A problem always, but particularly when you don’t have an overdraft facility. So off to the bank I popped to ask nicely if one of the three members of staff (or so it seemed) could help a fella out. To be fair to them, they sorted me out within half an hour and I’m covered until I can sort my shit out at the beginning of next week. This situation was created in several stages. One was long ago when I transferred to Santander and

The dog ate his foot the other day. No, you know, in the way that dogs nibble on their feet. I got some pictures and made a nice image. I’ll share it here. Since then, he has cut one of his paws slightly. It only bled a little but the wound is reasonably wide so I’m trying to keep him quiet for it to heal. The trouble is that he is not yet two years old and he doesn’t really want to do quiet. So it is the usual battle between what’s speediest to recovery and what is nicest to the

Jaw

I don’t know if I should call the dentist. You might reasonably ask how that could be – either one needs to or one does not. My situation is complicated by my frequent use of painkillers. Do I take them too often ? Undoubtedly. Do I have a problem ? Officially, no. Yes, I actually looked up the internationally accepted descriptions for those with dependencies on substances and I’m actually way short of the lines at this stage. But that’s not really the issue here. No, I take them because things hurt. My jaw (TMJ pain), my joints (arthritis), my

Unfit

I have had my new watch a week so it now able to inform me…I’m pathetically unfit. It has placed my cardio fitness at the very bottom level of the many levels available for someone of my age. Now I walk my dogs daily and and an overweight, not obese, so I am sure there are many worse than me, but it is still alarming to see an assessment so bleak. I shall have to assess this information and decide what to do. Of course, if I decide to work on it, I probably need to check with my doctor

Just back in from taking the dog out for a nothing. He has scratched and fussed and fidgeted and stressed until I gave in and took him out. But predictably he didn’t need anything but to walk around and sniff things. I’m tired.
