Catch-Up

Sigh. It is so easy to fall out of a habit such as blogging. What has been going on that I should have shared with you ? My finger is healing, but typing is not as easy as it might be because I have it bandaged. I could probably manage without a bandage but it does still “leak” a bit so it is best kept very very clean. TMI ? Well you don’t have to be here ! Today is my young dog’s second birthday. He has had a nice day with two outings, the second of which was a

Edging

If you have a titter in your throat right now, and those words made it worse, shame on you ! I have made progress today. Not the sort of progress that most people would be proud of, but at least things have moved in the right direction. I have one small section of floor that is now clear and (relatively) clean, which is good, and a variety of other items have found homes as part of that. No, my surfaces are not clear, but it is an improvement. I have also just distributed cards to those in my local walking

Tired

I really did try. Well actually, it was weird. I lay in bed and didn’t go to sleep, but it wasn’t like I kept thinking “why can’t I get to sleep ?” I just didn’t sleep much. Then his dogness came by for his conversations and that wasn’t too bad because I wasn’t being woken from deep sleep. But now I am irritable. The young dog wouldn’t stop barking at things. A van. The postman. Me. Air. I tried throwing hose attachments at a fence but that didn’t seem to help at all. All the hose attachments have exploded in

Legacy

I just wrote my first “letter from the grave” to a friend. Weird, maybe, but I’ll explain why it isn’t a cause for concern. I like to be organised. Being so makes me calm, and that makes me less likely to get frustrated and lash out. So it makes sense that I should try to be organised for the one thing over which I probably have very little control – my death.   I have made a will. If you have anything, even the smallest amount of things, and you don’t have a will, you are just making life more

I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect someone to turn up to an appointment, particularly if they are the one who asked for it. Let’s compare. Today I went to a new place to walk my dogs because someone had posted on our dog Facebook page looking for friends for their Dogue de Bordeaux. I volunteered to drive over and meet them this morning. They chose a park near to them and gave vague indications where they would be. I walked around for quite a while, fortunately having a lovely time and meeting some very pleasant dog walkers, before

It is my fault – who else’s could it be ? Today I went overdrawn. A problem always, but particularly when you don’t have an overdraft facility. So off to the bank I popped to ask nicely if one of the three members of staff (or so it seemed) could help a fella out. To be fair to them, they sorted me out within half an hour and I’m covered until I can sort my shit out at the beginning of next week. This situation was created in several stages. One was long ago when I transferred to Santander and

The dog ate his foot the other day. No, you know, in the way that dogs nibble on their feet. I got some pictures and made a nice image. I’ll share it here. Since then, he has cut one of his paws slightly. It only bled a little but the wound is reasonably wide so I’m trying to keep him quiet for it to heal. The trouble is that he is not yet two years old and he doesn’t really want to do quiet. So it is the usual battle between what’s speediest to recovery and what is nicest to the

Jaw

I don’t know if I should call the dentist. You might reasonably ask how that could be – either one needs to or one does not. My situation is complicated by my frequent use of painkillers. Do I take them too often ? Undoubtedly. Do I have a problem ? Officially, no. Yes, I actually looked up the internationally accepted descriptions for those with dependencies on substances and I’m actually way short of the lines at this stage. But that’s not really the issue here. No, I take them because things hurt. My jaw (TMJ pain), my joints (arthritis), my

And you thought grey industrial premises in my town were mundane places of work. No ! They are places of mind-bending spacetime-defying mystery. I know this because the tyre for my 8:30 fitting appointment is not due to arrive until noon. For the system to have booked this appointment can only mean they have access to some form of wormhole capability and plan to address the locking wheel-nuts through that. Fortunately, given my run-flat tyres and the compressor I bought on a whim from CostCo, I can get to my morning obligations of dog walks and IT shenanigans.

I’ve battled opportunities for negativity so far today and won…just about. I had a bit of a head on in the early hours as the beers from last night took their effect. I cannot believe I could drink into double figures back in my youth. Now I have a couple of pints and I’m distinctly sluggish in the brain department. I might have wallowed in bed but I had an arrangement to meet my sister for a dog walk which was good for me as motivation to get out into the fresh air. We were fortunate with the weather and
